The 2025 Goat Posse descended into the basement for another 50-hour marathon, but this year something felt… different. The air was thick with fog machine residue and the faint smell of burnt pumpkin spice. Was it October? Was it February? Who cares—when you’re chasing deadlines and Edgar Allan Poe references, the calendar becomes irrelevant.

Our favorite version of the Trivia Intro is the same as the studio version but is heard in it’s natural habitat, live in the moments before Hour 1.

The Year In Review (YIR) started in the Middle-Aughts for no other reason that a lot of leftover thoughts on tape that were dying for a music bed. These days the YIR is handled by more talented Goat Posse members that can actually hit a deadline. 2025’s version suggests quite a chaotic weekend in the basement that goes bump in the night, including: Singing about Bears, a haunted CD player, and a shart confession.

Why do we even need Halloween if you have Edgar Allen Poe? Take yourself back to Elementary school to read haunting poetry by Poe. If you can’t relate to 19th-century Baltimore, think about what they did to Wallace in The Pit.

The Monster Mash was a nice, innocent song about Monsters dancing after getting a jolt from electrodes in the mad scientist’s lab one night. The Goat Posse, of course, runs through all stop signs of decency and imagines what would happen when dancing turns to…

Post Production: Pokéjohn - Safe Harbor AI-Generated Songs
Trivia’s Safe Harbor is hosted every year in the early morning hours in the quasi-gray area of the FCC decency rules. Most years hosts Jim Gray and Jammo! push the limits of raunchiness with songs that titillate or just feel gross. This year was a nod to the approaching tidal wave of AI-inspired everything. The dirtiness is dialed-back but peruse the song titles that address many of the Trivia themes and sub-themes that return every year, all by complete non-human voices.

Captain F is a sucker for a poppy song and this was K-Pop adapted for lame Americans and even lamer Trivia players. Take a ride through all the frustrations and laments of a Trivia player, not to mention the urgent diarrhea. But it all seems worth it when we all meet at the Red Carpet.

From a vocal perspective, this was one of the Goat Posse’s most complex productions to date. In a version of Danny Elfman’s “This is Halloween“, features 23 Posse and Friend of Posse (FoP) voices between the leads and the choir. With a combination of rehearsals and deft editing, this complicated song comes together as though the cast has been working for months. It is one of two songs that the production team of Ewestis and FoP Dr. Beard created this year The other being Chocula’s Revenge.

- 2025 Trivia Theme Announcement
When KVSC announced the 2025 theme, it was a very visual exercise. In the age of new media, the theme was announced via audio and video on a Twitch stream. KVSC Operations Director Jim Gray said they searched for a theme that would be fun for all the stakeholders: players, volunteers, sponsors, and the like. In a nice, extra touch the suspense was heightened as Station staff carried out the theme with a pop-up surprise.
