Bill has left the blessed lands of Crookstone Town on a perilous journey to St. Cloud City and the KVSC Trivia Awards Ceremony. The roads are treacherous, the potholes are cavernous, and Bill has discovered that, with the proper rod and reel, they can also provide sustenance.

Meanwhile, back on the homestead, Martha is doing her best to keep the farm, the children, and the Lord’s work moving forward. Unfortunately, Abel has been trampled by the family bull and is currently residing in the root cellar until the ground thaws.

Things deteriorate from there. Listen to the entire series to learn about how tough life is on the Trivia Prairie.

The Wild West was a harsh and unforgiving place, filled with outlaws, tumbleweeds, dust storms, suspicious bartenders, aggressive wildlife, and men named Lucky who were almost certainly not. Fortunately, the Goat Posse has assembled the Prospector’s Guide to Surviving the Wild West, a comprehensive 39-point instructional manual designed to keep you alive through the application of questionable logic and extremely confident behavior.

This one feels less like a historical guide and more like a pamphlet written by a man who survived the Wild West entirely through confidence, poor judgment, and an alarming willingness to challenge coyotes.

The American West was a lawless frontier filled with desperados, varmints, outlaws, suspiciously named cowpokes, and at least one person apparently impersonating Tom Selleck. Fortunately, KVSC Trivia has assembled its most highly trained bounty-hunting professionals to track down the Wild and Wanted—a collection of the region’s most dangerous, annoying, and questionably wanted individuals.

Meet Smilin’ Sue, who lures innocent travelers with warm smiles and hot meals before robbing them blind. Bamboozlin’ Brady, wanted for spreading balderdash and general buffoonery.  And Jumpin’ Jamo, whose repeated raids on Farmer Mary Jane’s garden have left the homestead—and apparently Mary Jane herself—smoldering.

The bounty board only gets stranger from there…

While some goats were playing bar trivia on the Thursday before Trivia Weekend, the Legendary Dolly Parton came up. After Dazeem said “Caffeine” in just the right way, we knew that the song had to be given the special trivia treatment. The whole writing and production of the piece came together in record time on Friday before the contest started, long before any of us really needed more Caffeine to keep functioning for the rest of the contest.

What began as a perfectly ordinary D&D campaign takes a turn for the catastrophically stupid when the party cracks open an ancient tome containing enough evil magic to make even the DM’s mother nervous. Naturally, they try to destroy it, which goes about as well as anything involving a natural one can possibly go.

With their options—and apparently their intelligence—running out, the adventurers resort to increasingly desperate tactics, questionable spellcasting and at least one attack that should probably get their adventuring licenses revoked… Lyrics after the jump!

The concept of this “diss track” was born from the ashes of WWSP Trivia’s first digital phone system (IYKYK) and the overall speed of their contest when compared to KVSC’s.

So, after 47 years of KVSC Trivia, the Goat Posse has decided it’s time to offer some completely unsolicited advice to our friends down in Stevens Point, whose own legendary trivia contest has apparently been moving at a pace better suited to a Sunday crossword.  We mean no harm, of course—it all comes from a place of love, respect, and the deeply held belief that after 56 years, it might finally be time for Stevens Point to “Speed Up”!

For a few years now, Skinny D has been doing some pre-work, often creating entire, trivia theme-centric songs before Trivia Weekend even arrives.  This year was a little different, in that he produced two absolutely masterpieces, including this track.  Fool’s Gold is about a dreamer, who left the “rat race” to pursue the simpler, cowboy life, only to find it’s maybe not all he thought it would be.

Over the years, we have made a number of friends of Posse (FoPs), but Rickie was different.  Even before we arrived, this FoP was reaching out, excited for trivia and the prosepct of watching us work and helping out wherever needed.  It’s not often that a FoP takes the lead on a production, but FoP Rickie’s ethusiasim and skill were obvious.  So with a little bit of Posse lyrically guidance from Drrrty A and Jam-ooh!, Rickie went fully emo for Trivia.

Every February, the KVSC Trivia team begins its annual campaign of recruitment, luring unsuspecting players with promises of fancy food, comfy beds, unlimited caffeine, and the irresistible opportunity to spend 50 straight hours answering increasingly ridiculous questions.

What starts as a friendly invitation quickly becomes a full-blown hostage negotiation as teammates are pressured to investigate clues, dominate speed rounds, abandon sleep, and pledge their eternal allegiance to the team—and heaven help anyone who mentions joining another team. With the Travel Urn tantalizingly within reach, the stakes are high, the caffeine is flowing, and the encyclopedias are coming out. It’s all fun and games until somebody threatens to leave… then the guilt trip begins. Lyrics after the jump.

The annual Trivia Theme Announcement has always been a reason to celebrate, but in recent years has been given the pomp and circumstance it deserves. We are uncertain if Jim’s chaps were “assless”, and we’re still trying to figure out who was in that horse cosume!
